I spent 30 years building one business. For 25 of those years it was “okay”; unfocused, too many priorities, not enough accountability. In year 25 I hired a coach, installed Metronomics as our operating system, and stopped fooling myself. The Entrepreneurs’ Organization was instrumental in this change. After 5 years, profits were up 4x, my week was under 10 hours, and in year 30 we sold at a premium multiple with no earn-out or employment clause. The team still runs and grows the business today.
I now coach a small number of entrepreneurs, serve in Entrepreneurs’ Organization as an Accelerator coach and Chair of the Mentorship Program, and share what I’ve learned here with the hope it’s of some value to 100,000+ entrepreneurs over the next 10 years.
